Season 7 Episode 4 - The Spoils of War - Post Game Wrap Up

Westeros

The North

Umber / Karstark alliance - Both sons of Umber and Karstark were sworn to fealty to Jon Snow, King of the North, much to the chagrin of Sansa.

Umber S7E5 prediction: Stay allied for the Winter and Undead to come.

Bran - The Three Eyed Raven is cold as ice to Meera as she bids farewell to Bran and is sent away with a dead-pan thank you after the sacrifice of her brother's life to save his. Littlefinger gave the Valyrian dagger that was meant to murder him by the cutthroat which Petyr told Catelyn that Tyrion Lannister was the last owner which started the war when she took the dwarf prisoner. In response, Bran freaks Littlefinger out by repeating his own quote years ago to Varys: Chaos is a Ladder. Later, while Bran is at the weirwood with Sansa, Arya shows up for a reunion hug and he offers her the dagger since it's useless to him. He should have told them about their Dad at the Tower of Joy, how Jaime pushed him from the tower, while he spooks them with his mystical vision powers about Arya's kill list.  He's too removed from duty to become the Lord of Winterfell.

Bran S7E5 prediction: Bran will go full warg and control a flock of ravens to spy on the incoming Others' army's location. Has Bran's travel through the gate allowed the Others to pass since the magic of the Children has been negated? Was Bran marked by the Nights King and that will break the magic so he becomes Bran the Breaker or Destroyer? Bran's mission is to tell Jon his father is Rhaegar? But we still don't know if Lyanna's marriage was performed by a septon and thereby legitimate. Will he tell Sansa that they need to hang Baelish for treason against their father? Will he tell someone that Jaime tried to murder him by pushing him out the window while the Queen and her brother were hitting the hay? Will he reveal that Littlefinger had someone steal Tyrion's Valyrian dagger and then given to Bran's failed assassin instead of the lie that he had no idea where it came from? Will the lords of the North make Bran the true King of the North since Jon is a bastard and Sansa skips her birthright to the eldest legitimate Stark.

Arya - She doesn't run into Melisandre or Jon, but good ol' Hot Pies. He watches her devour a meal and mead and tells her brother Jon is King of the North.  Her plans for killing Cersei is put on hold and turns around to head north for home. On her way in the winter woods, she is assailed by a group of wolves led by her once cub Nymeria.  Respectful of her old master, the wolf let's her go unmolested, and as a wild being is not beholding to any master anymore.

Arya S7E5 prediction: She will one day compare scars when Jon gets home. Do we foresee a reunion with Arya and Sandor and his traveling brothers? Will she run into Melisandre as the witch  predicted after the mission to Essos?

Brienne / Podrick - They see Arya safe and sound in Winterfell and Podrick commends her for keeping her oath to Lady Stark, but she feels such laurels are undeserved, but graceously accepts the compliment. Brienne was owning Podrick during training. Arya saunters up and decides to give a go at the knight who bested the Hound. Brienne scoffs at the tiny opponent, but finds out she is quick and nimble and can score points on her with ease. Frustrated, Brienne kicks Arya down which only makes Arya more determined. When nearly beaten after losing needle to Brienne's superior strength, Arya whips her legs around to pop up and dash her dagger under the knight's killing blow.

Brienne S7E5 prediction: She might float finally run into the Hound as he is traveling with a band of Brothers. She is stuck with nothing to do until Gendry comes out of the row boat?

Podrick S7E5 prediction: Still be the tag-along squire.

Sansa - Sansa is in her chambers as news of someone claiming to be Arya arrives. The younger sister gave the guards the slip, so she knows exactly where to go to find her in the crypts. Both have long stories to tell about how they wound back home.  Later they meet with Bran by the weirwood tree.

Sansa S7E5 prediction: Sansa is shaping up to be Queen #6. Will Sansa be planning marry Sweetrobin and tell him how his mother Lysa actually died by Petyr pushing her through the Moon Door, giving Lord Baelish his due reward? Will Sansa decide to marry Jon to legitimize and solidify the Stark's hold on the north when the truth comes out that they are not step-siblings? Will she just remain single and defiled and become the Wardeness of the North in name by a tribune of the northern lords in defiance of the Crown? Will he take Sansa to Harrenhal to rebuild it and make her a lady of Riverrun once he finds out Walder Frey is dead? Will Petyr take her prisoner for trial of the murder of Joffrey and deliver her head to Cersei?  Will Petyr betray Cersei and use Sansa as a trojan horse to get into King's Landing when Daenarys' army lays siege to the south portion and then overthrow the Mad Queen?

Sister - Brother rivalry: Sansa ahead

Davos - No show for E4

Davos S7E5 prediction: Is he Jon's Hand of the King? Always on the sidelines for diplomacy, and has no skill for combat anymore at his age.

Petyr Baelish - Lord Baelish watches on from above as Arya outmatches Brienne in a scrimage sortie. He also needs to whittle down his opponents as two more Starks have come home to roost.  Sansa and Jon are completely against him even though they owe him their lives. He surely is still attempting to play double agent for The Crown, feeding Cersei what is happening in the North. If Sansa ever talks to loyalists, she will reveal Petyr advised and aided her leaving King's Landing and then proposed for her marriage to Ramsay to unify the Warden of the North bloodlines. Why hasn't Sansa runs told Royce that Bolton men did not capture her from Baelish. Why hasn't she told Royce that Petyr threw Lysa out the Moon Door in cold blood, changing her testimony. If Royce ever talks to loyalists, then he will tell them Baelish smuggled Sansa out from King's Landing and then Bolton men captured her. Royce would not take kindly to Petyr's insinuations that he betrayed Sansa Stark to Bolton. In any of these scenarios, Petyr's goose is cooked and he has no way to squirm out of the web of deceit that he spun for all the players he's been playing. He has to ensure that Sansa or Jon or Royce never talk to anyone on the opposing side, otherwise his game is over. Petyr's days are numbered as his double crosses are going to catch up to him when Sansa, Jon or Cersei finds out.  Petyr had a hand in their father's arrest. Sandor the "Hound" can attest to that. Royce can divulge that the Bolton's attacked Petyr and kidnapped Sansa, to which she will know he is lying to everyone.  Then she can change her testimony about how Lady Lysa died when Petyr pushed her aunt out the Moon Door in cold blood and not in a struggle to save her life. Baelish was offered the Warden of the North by Cersei after mopping up Stannis and the Boltons for their betrayal of harboring Sansa. Now Petyr has to mop up the Starks, but it gets tricky as a hobbled Bran has reappeared.

Petyr S7E5 prediction: Ever playing both sides, Petyr does not want to be seen by the Iron Throne to be siding with the Starks and a Wildling alliance, but defeating the recalcitrant Boltons (for harboring Sansa, an enemy to the throne for aiding in Joffrey's death) to weaken them on the southern front. His best play would have been to have Sansa and Jon die by Bolton's hand, and then turn on Ramsey's forces with his Knights of the Vale by claiming the Crown's decree of protecting Sansa and disloyalty.  This would have tied up any loose ends that could leak and undermine his plots, while keeping Royce, Robin and the Crown in his good graces. With both the Boltons and Starks bloodlines ended, Petyr could have taken the title of Warden of the North for his double victory. He would then have 3 of the 5 Warden titles, with Mace Tyrell holding the South and Devan Lannister (Kevan and Tywin's other brother) holding the West. However, it appears that Petyr still wants to figure out how to get Sansa to marry him since he claims he loved Catelyn and now Sansa. Sansa most likely will turn against him and expose all his devious plans. Petyr should have maneuvered Sansa into marrying Lord Robert Arryn and making her Lady of the Eyrie and then he can rebuild Harrenhal after the wars. Once Harrenhal is defensible, and the Twins are now up for grabs since Walder Frey and his immediate heirs are dead, he could make a play to gain the Twins by trading Sansa's head to the Crown.

Lord Yohan Royce - No show for E4.

The Vale

Lord Robin Arryn - No show for E4.

Riverrun

Edmund Tully - No show for E4.  Where is Edmund?  Do the Lords of Riverrun take over the Twins?

The Fingers

Sandor Clegane - No show for E4.

Sandor Clegane S7E5 prediction: Will his merry band of believers finally make it to Winterfell and run into Sansa and Baelish.  Will the Hound spill the dirt on Littlefinger in his dealings with Ned Stark's arrest? Will Sansa fall for Sandor or maybe he will offer some information and then be asked to chop Petyr from breast to navel to put him to ground for good before fighting the Others?

Iron Islands

Euron Greyjoy - No show for E4.

Euron S7E5 prediction: With the destruction of Daenarys' fleet nearly complete, Euron can relax and oust the Unsullied from Casterly Rock since they have no provisions to last.  Maybe he will hold on the Lannister castle and Lannisport to keep Cersei in check for the impending marriage.

King's Landing

Cersei Baratheon/Lannister - Cersei hopes that Jaime will get the Tyrell's treasury home so she can pay off the Iron Bank of Braavos, as the spoils of war. Her chat with Tycho the money lender just reinforces how the Iron Bank likes it debtors. And she keeps promising she has a plan to deal with those dragons.

Cersei S7E5 prediction: Finally, she can pay the Lannister debt with the Iron Bank. With all her children dead, and no pretenders to the Iron Throne, she just has to deal with the open rebellion of the North (with the Vale) and Daenarys. She only has Tyrion to deal with as the spoiler of news that the three children were conceived out of wedlock with Jaime and not Robert Baratheon. Will Jaime make it back to King's Landing to tell her about Joffrey's murderer? She will feel heady now that two enemies have been crushed and seems to be winning.

Sister - Brother rivalry: Cersei

Cersei's prophecies:
Each of her children she will watch die before her
She will be killed by Volanqar (younger sibling) -
Arya has her on the hit list, and Nymeria killed Myrcella so why not go for the mother
Sandor could be alive since we did not actually see him stop breathing, and the Faith saved him
Dany might, but she might be too late to the party to help
Tommen does not appear to be the type to be a kinslayer
  Loras is in no shape
  Brienne has no reason

Qyburn - No show for E4.

Ser Robert Strong / Gregor Clegane - No show for E4.

Qyburn S7E5 prediction: Qyburn has a score to settle with revenge for almost being killed by Gregor Clegane's men (allied to Lannister) in Harrenhal, who then travels with Jaime Lannister and saves him from gangrene due to his severed hand. Funny that Qyburn experimented on Gregor and changed him into a unquestioning servant of Cersei. Qyburn has a huge grudge against Gregor and thereby all Lannisters so does he have a hidden safe-word to turn the Mountain on anyone at anytime of his choosing? Is he playing the long con, letting Cersei and Jaime believe he is a friend, when opportunity shows itself, he will turn-cast and put them in the ground? Until then, what does he have in store for the invaders? More wildfyre?

Frankenmountain S7E5 prediction: Glower more.

Jaime Lannister - Jaime gives Bron his due and gets the gold to his sister before Dany's army comes sweeping in from the east and waylay the food supplies. In a battle royale, he holds his own against the Dothraki and even manages to find an opportunity to strike at his mortal enemy. However, Drogon turns his attention on him and breathes fire in his direction, and is saved in the nick of time by someone looking like Bron.

Jaime S7E5 prediction:  It appears Jaime will not be able to take aim at the rebels in the Vale, or fix the disaary in the Twins, or capture the Eyrie from Lord sweet Robin. It appears he and his army is forced to surrender to Daenarys or be executed in cold blood, or will he be kept hostage until his men bend the knee. But first he needs to wake up, take off his fancy plate armor and swim to short before drowning.

Bron - He reminds Jaime he was promised a castle, putting his eye on Highgarden, after getting a saddle bag full of gold.  He is fighting for his life against the Dothraki and manages to arm a ballista and fire test it on its first victim. He them reloads and misses a shot at Drogon.  His second attempt finds its home in Drogon's shoulder as the beast screams and soars to land.  It seems he spies Jaime rushing Daenarys next to her wounded dragon and leaps into action, saving his Lord from being a crispy critter.

Bron S7E5 prediction: He will remind Jaime he saved his life yet again.  That is if he can get the knight out of his armor before he drowns in the river and then ask for another castle.

The Reach: Highgarden

Olenna Tyrell - End of the game for her.

The Reach: Storm's End

Jon - Jon escorts Daenerys into the caves under Dragonstone. However, Dany is distressed as news of the fall of House Tyrell weighs upon her and thrusts Jon into a conundrum of how would he proceed with the war. They see the obsidian waiting to be mined, and discuss the drawings left by the Children of the Forest and what the histories mean. The First Men and the Children joined forces to defeat the Others, but it is unclear that the Children created the Others to kill the First Men, and no mention of how they erected the Wall. There is a tense moment when Theon comes ashore to report to his new queen, where Jon grabs the betrayer and spares his life since he saved Sansa from Bolton.

Jon S7E5 prediction: Jon has to get to the weapons to Winterfell in time before the Others break through.  Dany is still hoping Jon will bend the knee as his people shouldn't lose faith in his decisions. Now that Dany has lost her imperious attitude, maybe a mutual pact of non-aggression and aid would be best since they both want to neutralize Cersei. Jon makes it back home with the Onion Knight, but will he catch a JetDragon flight up north? He will get a scouting report from Bran that the Others are marching on East Watch.  The castle will fall as most of the undead army will just walk around the Wall on the frozen ice. When Jon gets home, he will confirm his army's head count is around ten thousand, and little does Jon know that there be Giants among the undead army, and hopefully there won't be an undead dragon in the future.

Jon's prophecy: Azor Ahai; the prince that was promised
Lightbringer: The sword that is created by Azor Ahai by plunging the blade through his beloved's heart, fusing her soul (Nissa Nissa) within the object
SPOLIER THEORY: Jon plunges Longclaw into Daenerys' heart as she commands him to and drains her soul to create Lightbringer in order to destroy the Nights King. Because Dany appears to be murdered, Jon exiles himself instead of being hanged or worse by her loyal followers.

Daenerys Targaryen - The Dragon Queen is perturbed that she has lost her major two allies, and no word of the Unsullied victory at Casterly Rock. She snaps at Tyrion's clever plans decides to ask Jon his opinion after showing her admission of desperation, maybe as on-the-spot job interview to replace the dwarf. She goes with Jon into the dragonglass cave and has the Children scrawl mansplained to her. Then afterwards she is witness to Theon's and Jon's tense reunion on the shores. Itching for action, Dany sends her Dothraki horde at King's Landing and rides at the vanguard as a valkyrie on Drogon, bringing death, fire and ash in her wake.  The Lannister and Tarly armies are routed, the Highgarden's provision train decimated, but Drogon suffers a wound from a huge ballista bolt that nearly downs him from the sky. While tending to Drogon, Jaime spots her and charges with a spear on horseback, but her faithful and alert Drogon deals with the Red Lion Knight.

Daenerys S7E5 prediction: She needs to blockade King's Landing and call back her Unsullied, cutting off any reinforcement of Cersei by land. Drogon needs medical attention and kept in reserve to heal. She'll need to call in Viserys or Rhaegal as a substitute flyer since Euron's Iron fleet will be able to bring men and food by sea, and sink the navy when they get close to port by committing their forces.

Dany's prophecies:
Light three fires - one for life, death, and love
Ride three mounts - one to bed, one to dread, one to love
Three treasons - once for blood, once for gold, once for love

Melisandre - No show for E5.

Melisandre S7E5 prediction - The priestess of Light will reach Volantis. Will she be looking for some smith who knows how to fashion Valyrian Steel? Will she bring back hundred of Red Priests that will unleash fire in the War with the Undead?

Theon Greyjoy - Theon lands at Dragonstone and runs into Jon and almost into a steely end. However Jon spares him and Theon slinks off.

Theon S7E5 prediction: What use does Dany have for this broken man?

Yara Greyjoy - No show for E4.

Yara S7E5 prediction: Sadly, she is now in thrall to Euron. What does he plan to do with her? Murdering her in cold blood doesn't seem his style.

Sister - Brother rivalry: Theon ahead, but only because he is free to swim.

Tyrion - Tyrion's grand military plan goes up in smoke and ashes as the Yara's Iron Fleet goes belly up in the Narrow Sea before they get to Dorne to launch an invasion on King's Landing. Hope he has a Plan B.

Tyrion S7E4 prediction: Advise Dany and deal with the logistics of blockading King's Landing and Casterly Rock by navy, and using Dornish and Tyrell's armies to launch D-Day against Cersei with the Dothraki and Unsullied trampling the Reach by raiding and pillaging farms loyal to the throne.

Tyrion parentage theory: It is rumored that the late King Aerys II Targaryen bedded Tywin's wife Joanna Lannister after the 10th anniversary Tournament. Since all of the Queen's births were miscarraiges or stillborns, with the last being premature, it is plausible that Aerys' tainted seed could have caused Joanna's death in childbirth to a disfigured boy, even though sister-Queen Rhaella survived many birthings. Aerys taunted Joanna at the tourney, and in the past desired her to be his wife as he mocked Tywin that it is no longer the host's right to take the bride first before her husband has a chance to bed. Tywin had alluded that Tyrion might not be his child by blood, but he upheld that he was a Lannister.  This would tie in with RT+LS=J, and Daenerys, and Tyrion to be the three dragon-riders and all related in the same Targaryen bloodline.

Varys - Varys meets with the Red Priestess and talk about the mysterious future, and where they will meet their ultimate demise.

Varys S7E4 prediction: He needs to re-establish his control over the little birds from Qyburn and get some good intelligence that proves his worth to Dany.

Grey Worm - Grey Worm leads the charge to take Casterly Rock through a hidden sewer entrance and open the gates. The victory comes too easy, and then he notices his fleet being destroyed by the Kraken fleet.  With no provisions in the castle, he needs to retreat, but where?

Missandei - No show for E3.

The Reach: Oldtown

Samwell & Gilly & baby Sam - No show for E4.

Samwell E7E4 prediction: Will Sam make his way to Storm's End when invited by Daenerys to instruct them how to make Varlyrian steel weapons and take them north to swing the tide of battle when the Others find a way past the Wall? Will he or the maesters discover how to remake Valyrian steel by studying Heartsbane? Will Gendry the smith show up at Dragonstone and have some of the secret methods for forging? Lord Tarly and Dickon are too busy to deal with Sam.  But should they survive the war, they will want to hang him for stealing the sword since it has not been legally bestowed to Sam. Sam will have to get seriously trained in swordplay if he plans on using Heartbane, and seek protection from another lord from his father's deadly wrath or his father and retainers who will be chasing Sam and Gilly down. If Sam can talk the maesters to allow Gilly to stay under protection she might not be taken hostage by the Tarly's in retaliation. Perhaps Sam wants the sword so the maesters can study on why it can destroy the Others, as well as dragonglass. Possibly the Citadel will offer protection for Sam and not allow the Tarlys to arrest him.  However, Gilly and the baby are easy targets and might be given up by spies.

Jorah - So the bear knight is given a clean bill of health and Master Tarwyn and is told to leave the Citadel.

Jorah S7E4 prediction: News that dragons are in Dragonstone will led Jorah back to Dany. Expect him to be teary eyed at the reunion, but Dany won't be so moved.

Dorne

Ellaria - No show for E4.

Sand Snakes - No show for E4.

Ellaria / Sand Snakes S7E5 prediction: Ellaria is fallen Queen #3. Will Dorne demand her release? Or will Doran's former concubine come out of exile and reclaim Dorne for herself? Seems she will rot in Cersei's dungeon for the rest of the game.

Essos

Meereen

Daario - No show in E4.

Daario S7E5 prediction: Sadly, he will not lead the Dothraki against the Westerosi and allows Dany to marry someone more politically motivated without distracting her or ruining her reputation among the Lords of her homeland.
